A Winston County man’s charges have been elevated after a victim he allegedly set on fire passed away.
Authorities report that Willie Ray Harrison, who was initially charged with attempted murder, is now facing murder charges following the death of Lester Triplett. The victim passed away at a Jackson hospital on Sunday.
Investigators believe Harrison and Triplett were involved in some sort of spat that escalated when the suspect dumped gasoline onto the victim and set him ablaze. The incident took place on Aug. 21 at a location on Union Chapel Road.
Harrison’s bond remains at $50,000. No additional details have been released about this case.
