The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) has been awarded $71,460,000 from the U.S. Department of Transportation through the Infrastructure for Rebuilding America Grant Program.

The federal funding will be used to complete the construction of the 15.6-mile Greenville Bypass, which will carry US 82 from near the Greenville bridge over the Mississippi River to Leland.

President Donald Trump sent out a tweet on Thursday afternoon, saying the completion of the bridge is so important for economic growth in the area and reducing travel times through Western Mississippi on US 82!

Trump also announced that nineteen other states would be receiving money from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
