Vaccine eligibility expands to teachers and first responders

A huge announcement from Governor Tate Reeves today. Starting March 1, teachers and first responders will be eligible to receive the COVID vaccine. Tens of thousands of new appointments will be loaded tomorrow, and those in the new category will be able to start scheduling as soon as those appointments become available. You can do that by calling 1-877-978-6453 or by going to the website http://covidvaccine.umc.edu

In making the announcement, Reeves said he wants to make it even more safe for teachers and first responders to do their jobs. “While many states around the country are still forcing children to stay home, and refusing to open their schools, Mississippi kids have been in the classroom.  Many of whom have been in the classroom since the first week of August 2020,” Reeves said.

He credited those on the front lines for carrying a huge load during the winter storms last week, adding that their grit and determination should make all Mississippians proud.
