14 Mississippi counties report damage, 3 injured in March 22 severe weather

The latest update from the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency shows that 224 homes in 14 counties sustained some type of damage during Tuesday’s severe weather outbreak. 22 homes were destroyed and 34 have major damage in Attala, Clay, Hinds, Holmes, Kemper, and Warren counties.

The National Weather Service in Jackson has now confirmed that 11 tornadoes swept across the state.  Additional injuries are being reported as well.  Three injuries were reported to MEMA.  One in Clay, another in Copiah, and another in Holmes county.

Overnight, the American Red Cross opened a shelter at Mileston Cooperative Community Center AT 147 Head Start Road, Tchula, Mississippi, for anyone affected by the storms and in need of sheltering.
