14-year-old arrested on murder charges in Gulfport

On Sunday, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 14-year-old juvenile believed to have murdered another teenager.

According to Sheriff Matt Haley, at approximately 2:30 p.m., deputies responded to the 13000 block of Robindale Road in Gulfport after a reported shooting. Upon arrival, a 16-year-old male was found in the street with one gunshot wound to the abdomen area.

The victim was subsequently airlifted to the University of South Alabama Children’s Hospital in Mobile, Ala., where he succumbed to his injuries.

Further investigation determined a fistfight occurred between the suspect and the victim, which resulted in the victim being shot.

The 14-year-old suspect, whose identity has not been released at this time, was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility and is charged with second-degree murder. He is being held in lieu of a $1 million bond set by Justice Court Judge Brandon Ladner.
