3 dead, 1 injured following Copiah County propane explosion

Three people have passed away following a propane explosion in Copiah County over the weekend.

Copiah County Sheriff Byron Swilley confirmed that the deadly explosion took place Sunday afternoon on Wilderness Rd. The incident took the lives of two teenagers and a 43-year-old.

An unidentified 18-year-old was the first recorded death at the scene of the incident, followed by an unidentified 14-year-old victim at the University of Mississippi Medical Center on Monday.

Police confirmed that the 43-year-old was pronounced dead at the Mobile Burn Center the following day.

At this time, there is one remaining witness to the explosion. The individual’s name has not been released at this time.

The incident is currently under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s office.
