Officers with the Clinton Police Department stopped a white 2017 Dodge Challenger on Interstate 20 early Tuesday morning for a traffic violation.
As a result, officers recovered approximately 36 pounds of marijuana candy edibles.
31-year-old Monet Shields of Memphis was taken into custody. No bond has been set.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing which could lead to further arrests of participating criminals in the metro Jackson area.
The Clinton Police Department is warning residents of marijuana edibles packaged to look like regular candy.
“We need to focus on educating parents, teachers, and children to the dangers of the potency of these products,” stated Chief Ford Hayman. “Parents should be alert to the availability of these types of products and the potential that their children may be utilizing marijuana edibles.”
