A routine traffic stop in Scott County led to the discovery of 80 pounds of marijuana.
On Wednesday, a narcotics agent pulled over a suspect whose identity has yet to be released for committing an unspecified traffic infraction.
While interviewing the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a large quantity of drugs.
The suspect, who police say has a prior history of distributing illegal narcotics, was booked and charged with aggravated possession of marijuana.
Due to the amount of narcotics seized, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics was called to assist with the seizure and processing of the drugs.
