A 68-year-old man in Monroe County is facing multiple human trafficking charges.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, Steve Colburn of Aberdeen and Saltillo was arrested after multiple years’ worth of complaints. Deputies didn’t have enough evidence until just recently, arresting Colburn in the Bigbee area last week.

“Law enforcement has received complaints and heard rumors about Mr. Coburn’s behavior in our community for years,” an official statement from Sheriff Kevin Crook reads. “Last week, some things fell into place with the investigation, and we were finally able to make an arrest on these charges.”

While the details of Coburn’s illegal activity have not been publicly released, MCSD did say he’s been booked on one count of human trafficking and four counts of procuring servitude of a minor. His bond was denied by a judge.

Crook also said that since Colburn’s arrest, multiple young women have come forward as survivors. However, they believe there are more victims out there.

The investigation into Colburn continues.
