Ag Commissioner’s order bars vaccine mandates from MDAC

The commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce is taking an extra step to ensure vaccine mandates do not affect his agency.

Earlier today, Ag Commissioner Andy Gipson signed an order that bars vaccine mandates for MDAC employees & contractors as well as individual promotors and guests/visitors of events on MDAC properties.

In addition to expressing his belief that the vaccine should remain voluntary for all Mississippians, the commissioner outlined his stance that the forthcoming mandates issued by the Biden administration could further threaten a large portion of the state’s workforce and the supply chain.

Governor Tate Reeves has also been a vocal opponent of President Biden’s mandate. While he has not issued an executive order to ban mandates, such as Texas Governor Greg Abbot has done, Reeves did recently express that he would support lawmakers adopting such a measure during the upcoming legislative session.
