Alabama man faces up to 20 years after being caught with nearly 1,000 grams of meth in Jackson County

An Alabama man is heading to prison after being caught with nearly 1,000 grams of meth in Jackson County.

Charles Oliver Trahan, III, of Grand Bay, Ala., pled guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and will now spend up to 20 years behind bars. He was appeared this week inside a federal courthouse in Gulfport.

Court documents show law enforcement officers learned that a woman named Linda Mizell was selling meth in Jackson County. The investigation led them to Trahan, who was traveling from Alabama to supply Mizell with the drugs.

On Aug. 22, 2023, officers stopped Trahan as he was leaving Mizell’s home. Inside his vehicle, they found 991 grams of meth and arrested him. They also tracked down a record of digital payments between Mizell and Trahan.

Trahan’s sentencing is scheduled for April 23. Mizell, who will be sentenced on April 2, faces similar charges to those of her counterpart’s.
