The National Weather Service in Jackson says while it will be warm today, cold weather is just to our north. As cold air dips south later tonight and mixes with precipitation, there is potential for light icing to occur in the Delta. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for the Delta for tonight.
Cold weather continues to be expected for the weekend, resulting in very cold temperatures and wind chill readings.
Here are the current watches and warnings:
Freezing rain will be possible early Thursday morning as colder air moves into the region. Additional light freezing rain/drizzle will also be possible Thursday night into Friday morning.
Arctic air is forecast to surge into the ArkLaMiss region late this weekend and persist into early next week. This could end up being a long duration of very cold temperatures and dangerous wind chill readings.
