An arrest has been made in a case that re-entered the public eye last week following the murder of former State Rep. Ashley Henley.

Henley was murdered on the same Water Valley property where her sister-in-law, Kristina Jones, was found dead inside of a burned trailer on December 26, 2020. Assistant District Attorney Steven Jubera confirmed that 42-year-old Billy Brooks was arrested on arson charges last Friday in connection with the fire, however, Brooks has not been charged with Jones’ death.

Multiple reports state that Brooks lived across the street from Jones.

Henley was allegedly shot and killed on the Patricia Drive property last week while mowing the grass outside of the burned trailer. Prior to her death, Henley was actively looking into the death of her sister-in-law.

Jubera noted that both investigations are ongoing. No suspect information has been announced in Henley’s murder.

Henley served District 40 in the Mississippi House of Representatives from 2016-19.
