Authorities in north Mississippi have taken an Attala County man into custody for assaulting and kidnapping a woman.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson reports that his department responded to a 911 call of a possible kidnapping on Monday. Upon arrival at a residence on Auburn Road, Deputies found a female who had been severely assaulted and required immediate medical attention.

Upon further investigation and talking with the victim it appeared that she and the suspect, 23-year-old Preston Dean, were in a previous relationship.

The unidentified victim stated that Dean broke into her home, restrained her, and beat her severely. This occurred over a 30-hour period.

The victim was able to escape and call for help. Deputies then immediately began searching for Dean for two days. Assistance from the public led officers to Dean’s whereabouts and he was taken into custody without incident.

Dean is currently on an ankle monitor with MDOC for convictions of grand larceny and felony taking of a motor vehicle. He faces additional charges for kidnapping, aggravated domestic violence, and burglary of an occupied dwelling.

His bond has been set at $500,000.
