Authorities capture inmate who escaped from Mississippi State Penitentiary

The inmate who escaped the Mississippi State Penitentiary has been captured after two days on the run.

Authorities confirmed Wednesday that Gregory Trigg, 45, is in the custody of law enforcement. He escaped the prison on Monday, according to the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Officials did not release where Trigg was captured, but he is expected to face additional charges. More details are expected to be released in the near future.

Trigg was in the process of serving 61 years behind bars for nine sentences. His lengthy jail stint followed convictions for kidnapping, residential burglary, conspiracy, illegally possessing a firearm, vehicle burglary, and vehicle theft.

These crimes were committed in Madison, Rankin, and Scott counties.
