Authorities investigating after convicted murderer found dead in Lee County jail

Authorities in Mississippi are investigating the death of an inmate at the Lee County Detention Center.

Lee County Coroner Carolyn Green confirmed that 21-year-old Ja’Derius Marion passed away on Saturday at 1 a.m. at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is now looking into Marion’s passing.

Marion had been locked up since 2021. He was in prison on a second-degree murder charge for the shooting death of Tadarrell Hall and on drug charges.

An autopsy will be performed to determine Marion’s cause of death. There have yet to be reports of foul play surrounding his passing.
