Authorities are investigating after a stolen vehicle was found in the Ross Barnett Reservoir.
On Thursday afternoon, the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded to a boat ramp adjacent to an unpaved section of Lake Harbor Road after a submerged vehicle was discovered by the Reservoir Police Department.
Divers from the Reservoir Fire Department successfully found a black 2008 Ford Mustang submerged in approximately 15 feet of water. The car was approximately 50 yards away from the roadway.
Further investigation of the vehicle revealed that it had been reported stolen by the Richland Police Department in 2009.
The vehicle was recovered from the water and taken to a secure location.
