Bay St. Louis native Joseph Henry has pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute fentanyl in U.S. District Court in Gulfport on Thursday.

According to court records, Hancock County Sheriff’s Deputies served an outstanding warrant on 45-year-old Henry at his residence in Bay St Louis on December 2, 2021.

While serving the warrant, deputies observed two digital scales in plain view along with a strong odor of marijuana inside the residence. During a subsequent search of the residence, narcotics agents found over one pound of marijuana, 848 dosage units of MDMA, and 312 dosage units of counterfeit oxycodone, which was later tested at the lab and found to be 41.77 grams of fentanyl.

Henry will be sentenced on March 16, 2023, where he faces a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison and a $5 million fine.
