Bond has been denied for the Scott County man accused of sexually assaulting, murdering, and setting an elderly woman on fire.

Sammy Patrick was arrested at the QuikTrip gas station in Byram just before 11 a.m. on Friday. He made his initial court appearance on Monday and a judge denied bond.

Police had been on the hunt for Patrick since Saturday, December 30 around 2 p.m. in the 3000 block of Old Jackson Road in Forest after he had abused and killed 78-year-old Dee Eady in her home.

Before his arrest, the suspect had also robbed a local Subway restaurant on the Adams and Wilkinson County line on Monday and walked away with over $150 in cash, as well as a sandwich.

Patrick was wanted for capital murder among multiple auto burglaries in Scott and Newton counties.
