Bond has been set for the former West Point police officer and his wife who are charged with the murder in connection to the death of their infant child.
West Point Police Chief Avery Cook confirmed that officers booked 24-year-old Donovan Jeffers and 25-year-old Quiyona Pederson into the Clay County Detention Center on Tuesday. The pair was initially arrested in West Virginia and extradited to the Magnolia State.
Authorities looked into the November 2022 death of the couple’s four-month-old child. Jeffers and Pederson became suspects once the state medical examiner determined that the child had died from shaken baby syndrome — classified as a homicide.
The two were given a $300,000 bond each and are required to wear a GPS-tracked ankle monitor.
