A Jackson man has been taken into custody after fleeing law enforcement and allegedly trafficking drugs.
On Wednesday, December 20 just before 10 p.m., officers with the Byram Police Department attempted a traffic stop on a 2020 white Toyota Camry with a switched license plate traveling northbound on I-55 at the Siwell Rd. overpass.
The driver, 37-year-old Breyen Gamble, failed to stop for officers and continued northbound on I-55 into Jackson city limits. The suspect attempted to exit onto McDowell Rd. where the vehicle struck a Mississippi Department of Transportation sign.
Gamble is reported to have fled on foot towards a wooded area where he was captured by officers. The suspect was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital before being transported to the Hinds County Detention Center.
A search warrant was obtained on the vehicle. Police located an estimated 20 pounds of Marijuana, an estimated street value of $36,000, that was hidden in the trunk of the vehicle.
Gamble is charged with trafficking controlled substances, felony fleeing, false statement of identity, DUI, and switched tag. Other charges are pending.
