For a sixth straight week, Ole Miss and Southern Miss baseball are ranked in the D1Baseball Top 25 poll.

The Rebels continue to surge, leaping to No. 9 after a 3-1 week punctuated by a home series win over the Florida Gators. Meanwhile, Southern Miss suffered a pair of bad losses but stayed undefeated in a weekend series to remain at No. 13.

Ole Miss scratched three closely contested victories, topping Memphis 7-5 in midweek action to start the week. The red and blue continued their winning ways on Thursday and Friday vs. Florida, taking the opener 7-5 and clinching the series with a comeback, 10-9 win in game 2.

Mike Bianco’s ball club welcomes Jackson State to Oxford Tuesday before a four-game road swing that starts at Kentucky on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Southern Miss likely suffered their worst week of the season so far, dropping a Tuesday neutral site game against Nicholls that snapped a four-game win streak. The Golden Eagles bounced back by winning two of three against South Alabama in Hattiesburg, remaining undefeated in weekend series.

A home midweek rivalry game against the Tulane Green Wave precedes a road weekend series at Marshall for the Golden Eagles this week.

Both Southern Miss and Ole Miss benefited from an off week from a large chunk of the top 25, with 14 of the clubs in last week’s rankings suffering two or more losses.

Mississippi State, after being the only Magnolia State representative in the preseason top 25, continues to stumble in the opposite direction. The Bulldogs now sit at 16-12 overall and 1-8 in SEC play after suffering a sweep against No. 7 LSU.
