Three men are behind bars after allegedly attempting to transport a host of contraband into the Raymond Detention Center Tuesday.

After reports of a potential scheme to smuggle contraband into the facility, Hinds County sheriff’s deputies and a K-9 Narcotics unit surveyed the surrounding wooded area. Several contraband items were recovered, including marijuana, methamphetamine, promethazine syrup, K-2 spice, and cell phones.

Officers then attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle in the area, which led law enforcement on a brief chase before being halted. 28-year-old Johnnie Donaldson, Jr., 29-year-old Quinnvarius Tims, and 28-year-old Jaylon Gray were arrested for the alleged contraband run.

A search of the vehicle also yielded to stolen pistols, one of which had been taken from the Jackson Police Department.

Donaldson, Jr. now faces charges of felony fleeing, possession of a stolen firearm, and possession of a controlled substance.

Tims faces charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent, possession of a stolen firearm, and convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

Gray stands accused of possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a controlled substance with intent.

Officials with the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department say that an investigation into the scheme is ongoing, with more charges and arrests possible.
