The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services will be hosting a family resource fair in Jackson this summer.
The fair, which will be held on June 8 at New Horizon Church International, will provide comprehensive information to families on preventing child abuse, highlight available resources, and offer opportunities to support other families in the community.
“Our mission is to protect children and strengthen families,” MDCPS Commissioner Andrea Sanders said. “One of the most reliable ways to do that is to prevent child abuse before it happens by providing services and support to vulnerable families.”
In a press release, MDCPS further outlined the importance of community involvement to prevent unhealthy family dynamics: “MDCPS encourages all individuals and organizations to play a role in making Mississippi a better place for families. By ensuring that parents have the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to care for their children, we can help promote the social and emotional well-being of children and youth to prevent child maltreatment.”
The resource fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at New Horizon located at 1770 Ellis Avenue in Jackson.
