Bailee Edwards, a sophomore at Biloxi High School, is the subject of a new children’s book called Bailee One “Down” Right Special Girl.

The book, written by Joy Gough and illustrated by Emerson Chen, showcases the amazing life Edwards lives – all while having Down syndrome.

The idea came to Gough, who was Edwards’ occupational therapist, following one of their sessions.

“I’ve known Bailee since she was a baby and just watching her grow and develop, I just knew there was something special about Bailee,” Gough said during an appearance on Good Things with Rebecca Turner.

Edwards, at a recent book signing and dedication, expressed her excitement about being part of a book aimed to inspire.

“It’s really cool. The book rhymes perfectly and I love it,” Edwards told Andrés Fuentes of WLOX. “The part of the book that I like is where they talk about my family and how I (have) down syndrome.”

Copies of Bailee One “Down” Right Special Girl can be purchased through Spreading Joy Publishing Company’s Facebook page.
