A Clay County woman has been charged with arson after setting a home on fire while law enforcement officers were inside.
According to Sheriff Eddie Scott, deputies were attempting to serve an eviction order when Kimberly Jean Leggett lit a fire in a back room of the residence.
The order came as Leggett had failed to pay an IRS tax debt, leaving the new owners of the home to ask Leggett to leave the property by 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday for locks to be changed.
No injuries were reported from the incident, but officials have since released that the house received a substantial amount of damage from the fire.
Leggett is anticipated to face further charges as the investigation continues.
