Masters weekend might be over, but the golf season is just getting started. Mississippians don’t have far to go to find a world class golfer’s paradise as the southernmost part of the state was named one of the top places in the U.S. to hit the links.
USA Today 10Best editors and readers placed the Mississippi Gulf Coast on its list of the top 10 “Best Golf Destinations” for 2025, noting the region’s plethora of golf offerings, the quality of courses, and the “overall reputation for world-class golf.”

“We are thrilled to be recognized as one of the top golf destinations in the country,” Coastal Mississippi CEO Judy Young said. “Our combination of world-class golf set against stunning scenery, Southern hospitality, and diverse entertainment options makes Coastal Mississippi an unbeatable destination for golf enthusiasts.”
Coastal Mississippi was the only location in the southern U.S. named to the list, bested only by St. Georga, Utah, Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., and top-ranked BOYNE Golf in Petoskey, Mich.
The area’s golf offerings range from high-end championship-level courses like Grand Bear, Fallen Oak, and The Bridges, each designed by legendary course architects such as Jack Nicklaus, Tom Fazio, and Arnold Palmer. An array of local courses also dots the 62-mile stretch of scenic shoreline, with a total of 20 courses welcoming golf enthusiasts from around the world.
“We think it’s one of the best-kept secrets in the country, but we don’t want it to be a secret,” Pattye Meagher of Coastal Mississippi said on Good Things with Rebecca Turner. “We want them to come stay and play in Coastal Mississippi because we have some phenomenal golf opportunities here.”
