A Columbus city councilman was arrested over the weekend in Alabama.
According to police records, law enforcement in Gordo, which is right across the state line, booked Pierre Beard Friday night at 8:50 p.m.
Beard is said to have been driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
The Ward 4 councilman’s bond was set at $2,350. Beard has been serving on the city council since September 2019 with his current term set to end in 2025.
