A Crystal Springs man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for operating a drug trafficking organization, which distributed heroin laced with fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine.
43-year-old Gregory Jamal Williams, also known as “Grip,” was sentenced on Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Jackson.
According to court documents, Williams conspired with numerous individuals and possessed with the intent to distribute crystal meth and heroin from February 2019 to November 2020. Evidence showed that the heroin was mixed with fentanyl.
Williams pleaded guilty to all counts in his federal indictment in October 2022, with his sentence including penalties for acting as a supervisor or manager of the organization’s drug trafficking activities and for possession of firearms in connection with his drug trafficking activities.
He was also penalized for committing his drug crimes as part of a pattern of criminal conduct engaged in as his livelihood and for the importation of methamphetamine from Mexico.
Williams was previously convicted of various state drug crimes, including sale of drugs within 1500 feet of a church.
His son and co-defendant, Sage Braddy, is currently serving an 87-month federal sentence for his role in the drug trafficking operation.
U.S. Attorney Darren J. LaMarca of the Southern District of Mississippi and DEA Special Agent in Charge Brad Byerly made the announcement.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Carla J. Clark prosecuted the case.
