Frigid weather will be moving into Mississippi starting tonight, and we’re expected to experience dangerously cold temperatures through Saturday night.
Low temperatures will likely range from the single digits north to the teens in the south, and highs will be near or below freezing for huge swaths of Mississippi Friday and Saturday. Strong and gusty north winds will probably result in below-zero wind chill readings, especially from late Thursday night through Friday. Hypothermia will be likely with prolonged exposure, exposed pipes could be damaged, and water main breaks are possible.
Northern Mississippi–
There’s a chance of light rain in the afternoon with highs in the lower to mid-50s. Breezy and much colder tonight with a chance of light rain and snow. Lows will be anywhere from 6 to 7 degrees.
Central Mississippi–
There’s a slight chance of light rain in the afternoon with highs in the upper 50s. Breezy and much colder with a slight chance of light rain and snow in the evening. Lows will be anywhere from 12-13 degrees.
Southern Mississippi–
Becoming mostly sunny with a slight chance of light rain this afternoon and highs in the lower to mid-60s. Much colder tonight with a slight chance of rain and snow, lows will be anywhere from 18-19 degrees.
