A detainee at the Rankin County Jail was found dead on Tuesday, marking the second central Mississippi detainee to be found deceased in a seven-day span.
21-year-old Tevin Rogers was found unresponsive by staff with no initial signs of trauma on his body. Rogers’ body will undergo an autopsy to determine an official cause of death.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.
Rogers’ case marks the fourth inmate or detainee to die in a Mississippi facility in 2025. Most recently, Alex Deaton was found dead in his cell at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility on June 17.
