The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) has awarded $3,950,000 in grant funds to the city of Batesville and Panola County to spur economic growth in the region.

This EDA investment will be used to renovate a former outlet mall building to use as a workforce training center that will serve North Mississippi. The project will help establish the Concourse, a vocational and technical training facility.

“I am pleased to support the work that the Economic Development Administration is achieving to help South Panola County,” U.S. Representative Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., said. “The EDA project will help the area by renovating an old outlet mall and transforming it into a workforce training center. The work that EDA is achieving is amazing and phenomenal. This investment will give the businesses the growth that is needed.”

Upon its completion, the project is expected to open a new avenue for economic growth and development in North Mississippi.
