Fight between Canton neighbors results in one dead, one critically injured

A fight between neighbors has resulted in one dead and one critically injured.

On Sunday night around 7:30 p.m., Canton police responded to a situation on Boyd Street where a verbal argument turned violent. According to WLBT, Chief Otha Brown said Derrick Mack, 46, and his son, Quindarius Mack, 25, were both shot.

Derrick was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. Quindarius was also transported to the hospital, where he is suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Police say the neighbor, Micheal Morment, is a person of interest. He has not been located at this time. If you have any information regarding Morment’s whereabouts, contact the Canton Police Department at (601)859-2121.
