Over three weeks after a group of inmates broke out of the Yazoo County Regional Correctional Facility, the final escapee has been captured by authorities.

Glen Bassett of Yazoo City was captured Wednesday, according to the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office. On March 24, Bassett and four others were noticed missing after a head count was initiated due to suspicious activity outside the jail.

While one of the escapees, whose identity has not been released, was captured immediately, Marlon Willis, Marcus Green, and Deliuwon Stowers were captured on March 25 in separate locations. The outlier, Bassett, was the subject of a statewide search for 24 days.

While details remain slim on what time and where Bassett was apprehended, he is expected to face additional charges along with the other escapees. As for how they escaped, five correctional officers are facing charges for aiding in the inmates’ plan.
