A massive fire in Harrison County has covered at least 800 acres after breaking out in the DeSoto National Forest on Wednesday.
Emergency officials told WLOX that the flames are burning southwest of the intersection of Highway 605 and 67. Those on the scene assisting are members of the Harrison County Fire Rescue, Mississippi Forestry Commission, and U.S. Forest Service.
While some homes are being threatened, none have been damaged at this time. About a quarter of the fire was contained as of Wednesday night around 9 p.m.
