Flash flood warning in effect for Clarke County after dam breach

posted in: Mississippi News | 0

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning in Clarke County until 9:15 a.m. Monday after a failure of the dam on Archusa Creek.

The failure of the western spillway of Archusa Creek Water Park Lake Dam is causing flash flooding downstream on Archusa Creek as the bank rises along the Chickasawhay River.

Anyone in low-lying areas below the Archusa Creek Water Park Dam is asked to move to higher ground immediately. This is the first time since 1998 that the dam has been breached.
