A former Cleveland private school principal will spend additional time in prison after secretly videotaping and photographing students in the bathroom and locker room.

Norman Keith Aycock, 56, on Monday, was sentenced to serve 15 years on state charges for filming minors at Bayou Academy, where he served as the elementary school principal.

The investigation began in January 2022 after a student discovered a hidden camera in the bathroom of the girl’s locker room at the school. Law enforcement determined Aycock placed the camera along with others throughout the school, including in the office where he met with students.

Ultimately, investigators discovered that Aycock’s hidden camera footage in the school spanned over six years. On August 10, Aycock pled guilty to two counts of attempted production of child sexual exploitative material.

The former principal was sentenced to spend the latest sentence in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections on four counts of filming another with an expectation of privacy under the age of 16, one count of filming another with an expectation of privacy, and one count of voyeurism.

“Exploiting the very children with whom you are entrusted is a serious betrayal,” Attorney General Lynn Fitch said. “I am grateful to my team for their hard work investigating and prosecuting this predator, as well as the Bolivar Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District, for their partnership on this case. It is my hope that closing this chapter will help the victims and their families on their journey to healing and recovery.”

On December 7, Aycock was sentenced to 30 years behind bars on federal charges of two counts of attempted production of child sexual exploitative material.

Aycock will be required to serve his sentences, which will run concurrently to one another, day-for-day without the possibility of parole. The former principal’s time in prison will be followed by five years of supervised release. He is also ordered to pay restitution to victims and will be required to register as a sex offender.
