A former deputy and another man have been taken into custody for alleged sex crimes against a teenager.
Yazoo County Sheriff Jeremy McCoy reported that deputies received a call regarding a 13-year-old female in a vehicle with a 20-year-old male on Friday, July 5 around 6:20 a.m. Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement made contact with the two individuals as well as the teenager’s parents.
After investigating, police took 20-year-old Jontavis Lane and 24-year-old Jerquarius Carter, a former auxiliary deputy, into custody. Both men are charged with statutory rape.
