A former Diamondhead city councilman is once again behind bars after being arrested Monday on a stalking warrant.

Alan Moran, who earlier this year was sentenced for sex crimes against a minor, was picked up by Waveland police after reports of explicit conversations he was allegedly forcing upon a hardware store employee. Per a report from WLOX, the embattled ex-politician had gone into a local Lowe’s store on multiple occasions, pestering the employee with remarks that made the employee feel “uncomfortable.”

Moran is now facing charges of stalking and violating his probation and is being held at the Hancock County Jail. He is not entitled to bond due to the probation violation.

In February 2024, Moran was sentenced to a 15-year suspended prison sentence with five years to serve under post-release supervision. He was also required by a judge to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life after pleading guilty to the exploitation of a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The sentence for Moran, whose family owns a mosquito company, stemmed from Valentine’s Day 2022 when he asked a 17-year-old employee to perform sexual acts. According to police reports, Moran told the teen to “play” with a sex toy and lubrication during a work-oriented car ride, as well as attempted to touch his inner thigh and genitalia. Moran also purchased alcohol for the juvenile. While Moran was inside a convenience store on that same trip, the teenager notified his parents who came to pick their son up and took Moran into custody until police could arrive.

Upon being arrested for that incident, Moran was charged with simple assault and contributing to the delinquency of a minor before additional charges of touching a child for lustful purposes, exploitation of a child, and dissemination of sexually oriented material to persons under 18 years of age were added. Some of the charges were later dropped through his plea agreement.
