The former executive director of the Mississippi Fair Commission has been sentenced on a prostitution charge.

Steve Hutton will spend one year in prison after pleading guilty to one count of promoting prostitution in a Madison County Court Monday. He was arrested in April 2020 and was immediately terminated from his position with the Fair Commission.

Following his time in prison, Hutton will be placed under house arrest for two years. The remaining seven years of a ten-year sentence will be suspended.

Michael Lasseter was named as the interim director following Hutton’s termination.
