Former Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour is “stable and alert” after having to be airlifted to UMMC Wednesday afternoon.
Barbour, who recently turned 75, was involved in a one-vehicle crash around 5:30 p.m. on Wolf Lake Road in Yazoo County. According to law enforcement officials, Barbour said he was swerving to avoid a dog when he wrecked and flipped his black BMW SUV.
Barbour’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
