Former Miss Mississippi Holly Brand hit all the right notes on Monday’s episode of The Voice.

The 22-year-old Meridian native performed “Bring On the Rain” after bringing her coach, Kelly Clarkson, to tears with the song during rehearsals. Brand’s performance of the Jo Dee Messina classic on the big stage was good enough to send her and teammate D. Smooth to the Live Performance rounds along with just six other contestants.

“With Holly, she’s very exciting for me because she’s got like this whole twist,” Clarkson said. “She can do whistle notes. She can do R&B kind of pop runs. There’s just something special about her, and I don’t think people realize truly how special she is yet.”

After storming on to the show’s scene with her rendition of “Mississippi Girl” during auditions, Brand has worked her way all the way to the semifinals, which begin Monday, May 15 at 8/7c.

The full list of contestants remaining on The Voice season 23: Holly Brand, D. Smooth, Ray Uriel, Sorelle, Grace West, NOIVAS, Gina Miles, and Ryley Tate.
