A former Mississippi hospital employee has been arrested for falsifying time sheets.
On Wednesday, State Auditor Shad White announced the arrest of Roger Lofton. Lofton was a support care professional at the Mississippi State Hospital in Whitfield when he is said to have altered timesheets to bring in an extra $2,671.
“Thank you to the investigators and prosecutors who worked this case,” White said. “We will continue to pursue losses to the taxpayers, both big and small.”
Lofton could face up to five years behind bars and over $10,000 in fines if convicted. He is already being asked to pay back the money he allegedly stole. District Attorney Bubba Bramlett will prosecute the case.
The state auditor’s office asks for suspected fraud to be reported online or by calling 1-800-321-1275.
