A former Mooreville teacher and soccer coach has been sentenced again for child sex crimes in east Mississippi.
Less than two weeks after Luke Tanner Mason was handed a five-year stint behind bars for enticement of a child in Lee County, he was given another five-year sentence for sexual battery and touching a child for lustful purposes in Meridian.
The sexual battery charge initially carried a 30-year sentence, but 25 years were suspended. For the lustful touching charge, all 15 years Mason would have spent behind bars were suspended. He was given five years probation for both charges.
Authorities report that Mason used his authority as a teacher and coach to entice a student for sexual purposes and dealt pornographic photos to another pupil. The unidentified victim in Meridian is connected to the Lee County case.
Mason’s sentences will run concurrently with one another. He is now legally required to register as a sex offender.
