As college football teams across the nation announce their representation for upcoming media days, one former Mississippi player will be among the delegation for Baylor when the Big 12 gathers in Las Vegas next week.
Keaton Thomas suited up as a linebacker last season for Northeast Community College in Booneville, leading the NJCAA in tackles and subsequently being named a first-team All-American. Earlier this year, he enrolled at Baylor and has quickly gained the trust of his teammates and coaches as shown with his selection to represent the university at media days.
“I’m so proud of him and the way he’s conducted himself to be in this position,” NEMCC head coach Greg Davis said. “For him to come in and have that presence, it speaks of his integrity and the way he approaches things day to day.”
Thomas will be joined by linebacker Matt Jones, safety Carl Williams IV, running back Richard Reese, and wide receiver Ketron Jackson along with head coach Dave Aranda when Big 12 Conference Football Media Days takes place on Wednesday, July 10 at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Bears, who had an underwhelming 3-9 season in 2023 after consecutive postseason appearances in 2021 and 2022, are projected to finish twelfth in the Big 12. This will be the first season of 16 members in the Big 12, with the additions of Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah.
As for the SEC, media days will run from July 15-18 in Dallas, Texas, with representation from Ole Miss including quarterback Jaxson Dart, wide receiver Tre Harris, and defensive end Jared Ivey along with head coach Lane Kiffin. From Mississippi State, quarterback Blake Shapen, offensive tackle Albert Reese IV, and linebacker John Lewis will join first-year frontman Jeff Lebby at the event.
