Two Gautier foster parents have been arrested and charged for the death of an 11-month-old after law enforcement found the child unresponsive in a bathtub.
The Gautier Police Department was notified of the infant’s condition around 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27, with officers reporting that the foster child had allegedly drowned in the bathtub before their arrival.
The 11-month-old was then transported to a hospital in Ocean Springs, where the infant was pronounced dead.
Tonya Winter and Deborrah Winter were arrested shortly after the incident and charged with felony child endangerment. Both suspects have had their bonds set at $20,000 each, as well as had additional conditions placed on their release.
Child Protective Services has since removed other foster children who were staying at the residence. The incident is currently under investigation.
