Four confirmed dead following plane crash in Hattiesburg

A plane crashed into a home Tuesday night in Hattiesburg claiming the lives of four people.  The following is the most recent update provided by the Hattiesburg Police Department:


On Tuesday, May 4, 2021, emergency personnel responded to a report of a downed aircraft on Annie Christie Drive around 11:20 p.m.

When emergency crews arrived on scene, it was confirmed that a civilian airplane had crashed into a home.

We can confirm, in total there are four fatalities.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board has been contacted to handle the investigation, and are enroute to the scene.

At this time, Edwards Street is back open to thru traffic. Annie Christie Drive is closed entirely from Evans Street, down to Collins Street.

If you find any debris or wreckage in your yard or property that you believe is connected to the crash, do not touch or remove it, and please contact the Hattiesburg Police Department at 601-467-7556.
