A man accused of killing his brother has been arrested in the Mississippi Delta.
On Wednesday at around 9 p.m., officers with the Greenville Police Department responded to a home in the 700 block of Cotton Drive regarding a shooting. When officers arrived at the scene, they noticed a Black male lying in the hallway of his residence with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was transported to Delta Health Systems, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities identified the victim as 27-year-old Gervonte Johnson. Though police report that the circumstances surrounding the shooting are “unclear,” investigators have arrested 21-year-old Santwan Johnson, the victim’s brother, and charged him with murder.
Santwan Johnson is being housed in the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility.
