Hattiesburg energy cooperative receives over $429M to improve facilities

The United States Department has awarded $429,659,000 to Hattiesburg’s Cooperative Energy to improve transmission facilities and generation systems.

Announced by Congressman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., the funds, made available through the Electric Infrastructure Loan and Loan Guarantee Program, will benefit 26 Mississippi counties.

Cooperative Energy, an electrical generation and transmission company, provides power to more than 427,000 homes and businesses. The federal funding given to the Mississippi business will also be used to finance transmission facilities.
