‘He will be greatly missed’: Warren Central mourns loss of assistant football coach

The Vicksburg community is mourning the loss of a beloved figure in high school football.

Warren Central High School assistant football coach and head powerlifting coach 52-year-old Chad McMullin passed away Saturday afternoon.

For over a decade, McMullin served as an assistant football coach, head cross country coach, and junior high basketball and football coach in spurts.

He also served other athletic programs in the school system with their strength and conditioning work.

“My dealings with Coach McMullin were limited but I very easily noticed his kindness and generosity in my encounters with him,” Cody Barfield, a former student-athlete at Warren Central told SuperTalk Mississippi News.

“A couple of years ago, I saw him at a gas station in town and he asked how I had been and how my family was. That meant a lot coming from a coach from my high school with whom I had limited dealings. He still remembered me and my name from 12-13 years prior. I speak for not only the Warren Central community but also the Vicksburg community in saying he will be greatly missed.”

Grief counselors are currently available for Warren Central athletes and staff. Funeral arrangements for McMullin have not yet been released.
